In 2020, a phone rang at a Denver art studio. It was Elon Musk, calling to commission a 30-foot, 4,500-pound stainless-steel fork.

Two years later, “MetaFork in the Road” debuted at Burning Man before being hauled off to its permanent home on the Tesla campus in Austin, Texas.
